The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope (NGRST) is NASA's next flagship infrared space observatory. It is scheduled to launch on 30 August 2026 aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. It will operate from the Sun–Earth L2 Lagrange point. Formerly known as the Wide Field InfraRed Survey Telescope (WFIRST), it was renamed to honor Dr. Nancy Grace Roman, NASA’s first Chief of Astronomy and the "Mother of Hubble".
